Period is due but not here and neg preg. Test...

Af is due today but not feeling any symptoms and not seeing anything really coming down there. I see only the slightest shade of brown when I wiped but it's so mild compared to what I normally see when period is approaching. Took a preg test this AM but didn't see the faintest line. I am wondering is it likely and common to get a negative on day of your period being due but still be pregnant or are my chances quite low since it didn't pick up the hormone at all?
