Can i apply for welfare if i have a job ?

So this is my first baby. I work at elementary and this month is the last month we get paid and im currently just at home since this quarantine. Theh are still paying us to stay home. But the thing is i give birth in September and school starts in August so idk if im going to get paid those months also in June and july i wont be getting paid either because thats summer vacation. So idk if i should apply for welfare or unemployment for awhile? I mean i am still employed at the school and will always be employed no matter what. They said they offer me maternity leave too but idk if im going to get paid during maternity leave?.
