With your first baby, did your water break on it’s own and also was it your first sign of labor?

Leave descriptions as well! FTM and I feel like the more first time baby stories I see, that the more it seems like their water didn’t break on its own with the first child.

Mine broke on its own while I was sleeping in bed. It felt like a balloon popped. I didn't have any contractions or signs of labor before that.

Started having contractions in my back at 11pm. Bounced on my ball, sat in my rocking chair, went to pee and water broke at 1am. Headed to the hospital and my daughter was born at 5:10am. Throughout my whole labor, my contractions were 1 minute apart and 50-60 seconds long, mostly in my back.

I felt weird one evening, just “off”, nothing else, but slept on the recliner in the baby’s room that night. The next day, I had cramps all day long but no pattern, and varying levels of intensity. I had no idea it was possibly labour (I was 38 weeks). I waited all day then called the birthing center. They told me my body was probably just getting ready, but that if my water broke or if the cramping got worse, to call back and reassess with them. Well, around 7:30pm I decided we were going to the hospital (without calling), because the cramping worsened. When I arrived they checked me out and I was 4cm dilated already. Got admitted and scheduled the epidural soon after - which couldn’t come soon enough, because before long the contractions were coming full force. They broke my water, and my daughter was born the morning after at 9:30am with just 20 min of pushing.
I’m now 34 weeks with #2 and terrified all over again lol...just listen to your body’s cues, and if in doubt, just go in.
