2 year old birthday party

Our son will be two in a couple of weeks. We originally had planned an Elmo themed birthday party with his grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles but that can no longer happen this month.

Wondering about people’s opinions on postponing or doing it virtual.

Postpone: not sure for how long, I am pregnant and due in early August but went at 37 weeks with our son, so maybe July. Nieces and nephews have birthdays in Aug, Oct, and Nov, so finding a time might be tricky. Plus, who knows how long it will be before we can safely all gather. I’d love to be able to have people celebrate with him and I’m oddly excited about the Elmo theme, but would it be weird to have a birthday party when he’s 2.5?

Virtual: maybe like an hour block of people want to jump on. He doesn’t engage well with people on devices. Whenever we FaceTime, he’s running around and doing other things. It would probably just be us showing him opening his gifts and “blowing out” his candles. Not sure if it would be much fun for anyone.

I don’t know. I’m torn I guess. Thoughts?
