Do any moms have a long commute?

Question

I've accepted a job where I'll be commuting 3 hours RT each day until we purchase a home. Even then, the commute will still be around 1.5-2 hours RT. I'm so anxious this is going to affect my kids and their quality of life. I have a 6 month old and an almost 3 year old who will be attending daycare, and I'm torn between putting them in daycare near my work so they are close by or putting them in daycare near our home so they aren't subjected to the drive. Any stories or advice?
Also, I don't have a choice but to take this job. It pays well and it will give me and the kids the opportunity to finally move to be with my husband who has been working out of state since October, before my second was even born.

I live in London and I commute 1 hr 1.30 mins in the morning and the same in the evening.
Been doing this for years so I’m used to it.
Kids in nursery/ school than after school club.
Just make sure your route is foxed and you there in time to pick them up

I commuted about 40 minutes each way and I thought it was rough. I felt like I got no play time with our son on work days. However, if reducing the commute isn't an option here are some pros and cons I came up with:
Pros to daycare near work
-shorter hours for kids at daycare
-close to you if there is an emergency during the day while you're working
-may get a good nap on the way home 
Cons to daycare near work
-long drive for the kiddos if they're not usually good in the car
-if you have a day off from work and still want to drop the kids off it will be a long drive

I have commuted  2 1/2 hours RT for school. Or to even go get milk. I lived in the middle of no where. Lol I like driving. So it wasn't that bad. If you aren't use to it. It's an adjustment.

I drove 1.5 hours everyday to university for a few years and it was terrible but you get used to it. Just super boring!!!

I commute 2.5 - 3 hours r/t via public transportation (because traffic, has, and price of parking is insane here in the SF Bay Area). I've been doing the commute for nearly 7 years,and we have a 2.5 hear old daughter. I'll be honest, it's the worst part of my life. It sucks so much time from my day that I could be spending with my family. Not to mention the train isn't safe--filled with violent crazy people, people deficating, and drugs. I have it, and I nearly quit a few times. But I've been with my employer for 12 years. I would take a huge salary cut and lose a lot of benefits if I quit and went somewhere else. Plus, I like my job. I'm hoping in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, I will be able to telework once or twice a week. And our office is taking about moving closer to where I live. So hopefully my situation will change. But we put our daughter in a daycare right across the street from my husband's work, which is 5 minutes from our house. It was important for her to be somewhere close to one of us in case we needed to pick her up in a hurry.

That’s what my commute is (or was before we all went into lockdown and all). Luckily I’m able to take the train for most of it and only have to drive 15 minutes to the train each way. We put baby girl into daycare that is exactly halfway on my drive to the train. I drop her off in the morning and my husband picks her up in the afternoon. 
I guess my question would be is there anybody close to your home who would be able to get to a daycare near there in case of an emergency? I’m comfortable having my daughter in daycare where she is even though it would take me over an hour to get back, because her dad is less than ten minutes away if there was an emergency. If it was just me I would probably want her closer to me/my job.

I commuted 1.5 each way with a 2 month old, and depending on traffic would turn to 2-3 hours at times. I would keep your daycare close to work, so you can be there quickly in an emergency and visit on lunch breaks if able. I did have to pull over sometimes to nurse my baby in the middle of the drive. I played songs he liked over and over in the car to stop him from crying on the long commute. It worked well for the most part. The drive wasn’t fun but it can be done. Definitely keep daycare close to work though.

I chose a daycare about halfway between home and work. Works out well for us.
