Nervous about natural birth

Right now i'm 11 weeks ftm, i want to look into going the natural birth way. I am terrified of needles and the thought of one near my spine scares me but I'm nervous about the pain and possible tearing. Is there any tips or info anyone can give me? Anything is appreciated.
