VBAC - What do you think?
4yrs ago I had my first baby through a C-Section.
My water broke on a Sunday at 2am followed by contractions every 4-5 minutes. By 3am I was at the hospital with intense pain and contractions every 1-2mins and by 3:30am I was dilated 5cm. I asked for an epidural since the pain was so bad and I didn't know how much more pain I could tolerate. The feeling of not having pain was wonderful but the fact that I didnt feel anything was a game changer. By 6am I was dilated 10cm (which was great) but I didnt start pushing until 11am because the doctor said that the baby was still too high. Around 7am a different anesthesiologist came too the room to verify ... I guess the level of the epidural... ( I have no clue how that works) but he ask the nurse out loud "Is this thing working" 😳. I was so nervous thinking that something could go wrong that I didnt even fall asleep or relax. They left me lying in bed, they didnt move me or tried to do anything to help the baby move down. I pushed for 3 hours. I knew I wasn't pushing right, I could just feel all the pressure on my head. I didn't feel any other part of my body (from my belly down). I had some Pitocin but that didn't help, I didn't feel anything. Between 2-230pm a different nurse came to try to move me but at this point it was already too late. The doctor came and mentioned I was starting a fever and that at this point the baby was in risk of getting and infection and she recommended a c-section. She also mentioned that I was so swollen that if the baby was able to come through she would've tear me up pretty bad. I JUST wanted to see my baby and I agreed with the c-section. The baby wasn't big 6.11oz 19 inch. I spoke to a different doctor and he mentioned the epidural was maybe too dense and then my doctor says sometimes women are just to small to pass a baby through. Currently, Im 28+ weeks and he is recommending another c-section (Forgot to mention that My c-section was done with a different doctor because my doctor was off that day). I really want to try VBAC but what are my chances to have a successful one?
