How do you find God?

Question

I want to find God. I want to believe in him and become a better person. How does one do this? I have friends that believe and have so much faith. I have none I’ve never really believed in him. But now I want to try. I want a better life and maybe God had something to do with it? Advice?

Read the Bible (start with John), pray or simply talk to Him either out loud or in your head. Ask Him to show you how to believe or to help you believe. Ask Him to open your mind and heart. Have conversations with people who believe. Ask them how God has been in their life. Begin watching online sermons. Ask others to pray that you find your way to God. 🥰

Start by reading the New Testament in the Bible. The first four books are about Jesus and His ministry. You'll get to know Him and what He was like. 
You're on the right track. In Jeremiah 29:13, the Bible says, "If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me."

Read the Bible, obviously. The Bible is the Christian history, a way of knowing Gods personality, instruction on how to live well and develop your personal relationship with him, and also a bit about what the future will be like. You should probably read a couple different versions, some are written to translate literal word to word and some are written to translate for meaning. The King James Bible was written to be poetic for the king 😅
I think one of the most important things for anyone spiritual or religious, and certainly seeking a relationship with YHWH is to realize that it is a way of living. I understand because even though my beliefs are different they are the foundation of my life, they are at the heart of everything I do and my motivations for doing. It’s the same with God. He’s given the instructions, it’s all in the Bible. As you read and learn, apply it to your life. I still do believe that God is a good and loving deity, and the fear people talk about is the fear any of us who deeply love someone know - the fear of disappointing them. The point is to do because you love him, draw close to love him better and be loved by him, and have a love so strong that the only fear is doing something that tarnishes that love.

Meditate. God is not a man, nor woman and resides outside of duality. A lot of people refer to God as Him but truthfully Gods name is unspeakable (YHWH) The Bible is great if you truly understand the passages. The Bible is written in code and nothing is as it seems. Research the Gnostic teaching and follow the Golden thread in all religions. It’s a beautiful journey. There’s one truth but many different songs, meaning there’s one common thread in all denominations/ faiths share, but religions fight over who’s faith is right but if they all knew their roots they’d know that all faiths are connected at the root. I agree with the other comments regarding the importance of both scriptures and prayer in truely finding God and feeling connected to Him. And although God did send plenty of scriptures to help guide us to Him and show us how to find peace within ourselves and live a balanced life, most of the scriptures have unfortunately been lost in translation and has been edited many times by so many people that very little of the original guidance remains. The only scripture that still exists in its original language today, unchanged and unedited, is the final book sent to mankind, the Quran. It has been translated to many languages as direct translations which can always be checked and verified since Arabic is a current language used by at least 420 million people around the world. I'm not sure if you've ever had the chance to read through an english translation of the Qur'an, and regardless of whether you believe islam is a religion that works for you or not, I still truly believe that you will find much usefull wisdom in this book. My mom was actually raised in a religiously catholic family, and according to her, she found that the Quran resonated with everything she believed in her heart and answered many questions she couldn't find answers for in the Bible or through the catholic church.

I would reach out to a local church. There are many with small groups where you can connect to those of faith and can help you. God loves you and wants to have a personal relationship with you!❤️🙂
