Eating during labor?

Just out of curiosity because I'm scheduled to be induced this week, if you were induced were you not allowed to eat from when they started induction until baby was out?

Depends on the OB. I work with one that lets his patients eat but all the others don’t. Most only allow you to have clear liquids so jello, popsicles, etc

They gave me a list of stuff to eat/drink while in labor to keep energy up.

My hospital has on their website that they encourage drinking sports drinks for energy electrolytes and loads of rehydration.

I was induced and I would have been able to eat but I was at high risk for a c section so I they wouldn’t let me. I did throw up during labor and they let me eat a few crackers after so if it happened again I’d have something to throw up.

Once admitted I was not allowed to eat. I was also induced and they encouraged me to eat a good meal before arriving.

I couldn’t but then my doctors didn’t anticipate me being in labor for 3 days. I didn’t eat anything the first day, the 2nd day they said I could have a salad and water or apple juice, 3rd day I was dry heaving the whole day from pain so I didn’t eat. I thought I’d be starving after birth but for about a month afterwards I had no appetite, I’d have to force feed myself cereal once a day to keep going. Lol totally unrelated but I had a whole buffet planned afterwards and couldn’t even stomach bread.

Yup I was starving 😂 they told me to eat before I arrived and didn’t eat till baby was out 😭
