Did you have to get rid of your cats after having a baby because it was allergic?

I have two cats and am expecting. I am mildly allergic to cats so I am worried my baby will be and I will have to get rid of my cats. Obviously that’s a sacrifice I would have to make but I love my pets dearly. I also heard that if they baby is around them from the very beginning they are less likely to be allergic? Any insight out there on this?

Being around pets can actually lower the chances of allergies, so keep the pets around but if you notice your baby having difficulties/reactions then you should do your best to find a good home for them (both for their sake and your baby's).

Is there a reason you are worried about this? I get it as a general what-if but it seems pretty unlikely if you and the father aren't allergic. Our son loves the cat and adores the dog! I can hardly keep him from licking the dog when the dog licks him.

Following we are getting my toddler a cat and I am worried about this with the baby as they get older too.

Hmm I’m not sure about the newborn thing but I do know that my so is allergic to cats and dogs and it was bad when he was younger but he’s he dogs for so many years now (like 20 years) that they don’t even bother him anymore. He even has asthma and they legit don’t effect him at all
