A scandalous egg

li

Okay so this is the egg that I think MAY have warmed up in the coop a day before I put it in the incubator so this little turd may be at day 18. Which is still REALLY early to be doing the SCANDALOUS thing it is doing.

So in the egg there is an air cell, (literally an air bubble) this air cell is what the chick pecks into that lets it take its first breath. When the air cell is piped into this is called internal pipping. And it can be spotted by candling. When you put light to the egg, this is what you see.

This IS HOW THIS EGG IS BEING SCANDALOUS.

It hasn’t officially broken the air cell. But boy its tryin. I candled the egg and put it right back in the incubator like what the hell? Early hatches usually happen when temperature is too high. I found that out when I was 17 and incubating quail eggs at the temperature you’re supposed to incubate chickens and they hatched at day 15 and I woke up to 50 baby quails exploding in my incubator. (In the hatching way. Not in a literal way)

I have two thermometers in my incubator which have both read the correct temperature for chicken incubation this entire time.

Maybe this baby is just a psychopath.

After the internal pip, usually they fully hatch within 48 hours. So he could be hatched by day 19/20 instead of the full 21 days.

Little scandalous egg

In short. This egg shouldn’t be doing what it’s doing right now at least for 2 more days.

The incubator is in my grandmothers room upon her request. If he succeeds at breaking the air cell he will start breathing and chirping in the egg. I told her if she heard chirps to call me.

I’m using he pronouns because I want a rooster. We need us a rooster. Pls be boy chicken.

Udpate: he hatched. That’s him, the silver/black angry looking one with his head poking up. So did 3 of his friends
