This is an update to that.

So a little bit of bad news I think. I checked it out just now and it’s quite alive. It did successfully internally pip. However it also succeeded at skipping into a blood vessel, but it looks like it clotted itself. So it looks like a little bad thing happened with a good ending.

When the chick loses blood, it loses strength and it slows it down. So it’s probably been resting for a while.

I’m going to give it more time and if it doesn’t ever manage to break the shell I’ll drill a mercy hole into the top of the shell with a tiny needle so that it doesn’t suffocate in the egg. It running out of air is what encourages it to break the shell, that’s natures way. I’ve had eggs way way worse off than this lil dude come out okay. But I do not intervene until I think its absolutely necessary. Because these eggs are not fully incubated it’s going to be really hard to convince me to intervene much because I could be doing more damage than I could be “helping”

So yeah. Little scandal egg has continued to be scandalous, making itself bleed because it wants to hatch so badly

I think he will be okay. I have had a chicken hatch at the wrong end of the egg, with its leg backwards and it pipping into blood vessels and shrink wrapping in its membranes and it freaking lived.
