What Should I Do?

I have a beautiful five year old boy. However I lost custody of him because I was an addict. I was high off of Xanax and sometimes herione most of the time. I'm so happy to announce I've got my chip for being clean for 6 months! My ex husband however will not let me see my son unless I prove to him I'm gonna be putting him first from now own. I'm sober and I know I still have a lot of work to do, but his can I redeem myself? I'm open to all suggestions. I just miss him so much... I know my ex wants to protect him because in his eyes I'm still a dangerous druggie. I want to prove I've changed. How can I do that?
Edit: Thx for all the advice guys! He's been willing to work with me. He called 15 minutes ago saying I can come visit for a bit at noon! I'm so excited! Can't wait to tell you how it goes!

Show him by your actions. Are you studying? Working? Doing something which reflects how responsible you are.

Well first of all congratulations! You took an enormous step. And you should be proud of being sober for 6mo. But don’t stop there, keep up the amazing work! I know it may be hard not seeing your son but by staying sober you will show your ex how committed you are to wanting to better yourself. You can definitely redeem yourself. And like you said he wants to protect your son. I am sure you want what is best for him as well. Just keep bettering yourself momma! Are you in a stable home? Do you have a stable income? And continue to stay sober. You got this! And hopefully soon enough you’ll be able to see your son again. Best of luck!

I’d say show him stability , you’re supporting yourself do X amount of time, holding a job, TRYING or have your own things to show for. It’s gonna be a struggle but I’m so happy that you’re so understanding of why he won’t let you see him right now. You know he just wants your sons best interests.

Congratulations on your sobriety! What a huge accomplishment. 
As far as your ex and son go, show him that you’re improving yourself. Have a job or be going to school for something. Ask for visits where he (or someone he trusts can supervise). Explain to him they you know you messed up but you’ve gotten help, are sober, and are bettering yourself. Tell him you want to rebuild a relationship with your son and earn his trust back.

You hire an attorney and take it to court. Let the judge hear you out and hopefully 
 visitation orders will be enacted.

Congratulations on 6 months of being clean! I know it’s hard because my brother went through the same thing, he is now 9 months clean.
You sorta have to see through his eyes, I am guessing you lied a lot as most addicts do and it’s really hard to trust them even though they got cleaned. Because a lot  Relapse. I can understand why he won’t let you see him, he’s just afraid of his safety and afraid  you’ll turn into a addict again hurting your child in the process.
Take things slow until he’s ready for you to see the child again. You have to build up that trust. Good luck!￼
