Can you lose weight with iud..?

Hello all, I have a friend who swears that she cannot lose weight because of her iud.. I am 8m pp (my first child) and i got an iud after giving birth.. Please share your experiences.. Am i doomed? Should I keep at working out, trying to get back to my pre pregnancy weight.

Yes. Your friend is just excusing herself. Which is fine if she doesn't want to actually lose weight, but she's spreading misinformation which is wrong.

I held onto like 5lb maybe but a lot of people say they can’t lose weight and won’t give up sodas/fried foods/sugar/simple carbs, or won’t workout. So

I lost a few lbs. After having my first, I went down below my pre pregnancy weight. I got the depo shot and gained 40 lbs. I stopped it because I was continuing to gain weight. I did not exercise other then walks, I followed a diet/calorie program and lost a few lbs fairly quickly. I then got the IUD and still lost a little but not as quick, and then my weight kind of stalled  and I stayed pretty much the same weight. So I did lose weight while having it, but after a few months I eventually stopped losing. Although to be fair, I also didnt do anything extra, i stopped the crazy calorie counting and the program because I was fairly happy with the weight I was at and just wanted to maintain it. I just ate healthier and kept cutting out the junk.

I have mirena and ive lost 20 pounds. The hormonea stay in your uterus. Are you exercise? Are you eating a lot? Are you eating crap?

Yes you can, I lost over 100lbs with an iud in place. I did remove it a couple months ago and kept loosing the same, but now to gain some as we are pregnant with baby#3. But yes you can absolutely loose weight, I did low carb healthy way of eating and exercising daily. Good luck!!

I could lose weight but I had to be really strict and never go off whatever plan I was doing or it would come right back even when I was still eating well and eating the right amount of calories to maintain. 
It’s been almost 2 years since I got it out (had it for 5). After the first year I could lose weight easier and maintain it without trouble even when off plan. 
It’s different for everyone. The way your hormones respond is what causes real problems for some people. Many are using it as an excuse but a few really do have trouble. 
I will never get an Mirena again. I had to many issues. I’d prefer to never be on birth control again and just track my cycle but I’m currently pregnant with an oops (a very welcomed oops but still) doing just that so might try the copper IUD... ￼

I was able to lose 20 pounds in about two months, while my iud was in. Once I actually made a lifestyle change and started working out it wasn’t hard.
