Who is in the wrong?

So I have 2 male cats Gizmo and Turbo. Gizmo is a couple years older then Turbo. Gizmo is 6 years old and Turbo is 4 years old. They are best friends they groom each other, play together, and you can tell they truly love each other.

They got in a fight the other day, this is the first time I’ve ever seen them fight.

Gizmo has had “his spot” for years he always lays and sleep on top of one spot on top of the couch by our heads. This has always been his spot he claimed it from day one when we first bought this couch.

Turbo doesn’t really have a spot he will just sleep in all different places around the house, but he has never tried to lay in Gizmos spot.

Well Gizmo gets up out of his spot to go drink some water and immediately Turbo decided to jump up in lay in Gizmos spot.

The look on Turbos face staring at Gizmo while in his spot is a face ive never seen him make before.. his eyes were huge and his expression said “what the fuck you gonna do about it”..

Gizmo stopped drinking water and both me and my husband attention was on them cause we could tell by there faces that Gizmo looked pissed and Turbo looked like he was challenging him.

Gizmo slowly creeped to him both their eyes locked and their eyes were open wider then I’ve ever seen. And they start fighting, full on fighting each other. I immediately yell stop and they both freeze and I kicked them both out of the spot. But it was clear they were fighting over that spot.

I felt like it was wrong for Gizmo to get mad and fight Turbo but my husband felt like Turbo was wrong to try and take Gizmos spot when that’s been Gizmos spot for years and he claimed it on day one and Turbo was trying to start shit and knew what he was doing by taking his spot. Who was wrong?
