I was told the original spelling is Anneliese. 
My friend said all I see is Anal when spelled with an a.

As long as you have that extra “n” in there, I don’t see how people would see anal—? Any of the spellings is fine, except Annelise, because it’d be pronounced Ann-elise instead of Anna.

I always say go with the original classic spelling of any name ... But now that you mention it I can see “ anal” in all of the names 😬
