I have a 4 year old in pre-school opening back up in June and I am due with baby #2 in July. Would you send your child back to school with the virus still out there?

Unless someone volunteers to watch my 3-year-old while husband and I work, I don’t feel like we have a choice but to send him. Fortunately, the daycare he goes to has been good about following reasonable precautions and daily screenings, which makes me about as close to comfortable as I will ever be with this.

The virus will always be “out there”. It’s not going away. You need to look at the data for children under age 10 and decide what kind of risk you’re willing to accept. For me, I’m willing to accept the risks because mortality under 10 is incredibly low.

Our center opens Monday and I don’t have any other options other to send my 17 month old. There were no positive cases in any pandemic centers in my state and were doing everything we can to keep kids and staff healthy and safe so I feel good about it! Germs are going to be everywhere and I’d rather him get this socialization and some sort of germ exposure to keep his immune system up!

I am not putting my daughter in daycare because my doctor said that if i test positive when i go to deliver, that they will ask me to not breastfeed or handle my baby for 2 weeks! I couldn’t go the first two weeks without holding my baby and I would then feel horrible if my baby got sick.

I accidentally pressed yes. My son was expected to start in September and I've said no, I'll be sending him a year late probably (though I do have the option to send him a term or two late if I want).
