Why do you have to take a break with cysts?

Question

I’m seeing that many people doing IVF, clomid, femara have to take a month off from TTC if they have an ovarian cyst. Why is that? 
My obgyn has never done ultrasound for me and I’ve been on femara awhile, I might have a cyst (based on pain) but since no ultrasounds, I don’t know and kept taking femara a couple cycles after I had the thought it might be cyst.

They cyst will produce estrogen just like a growing follicle and tell the body to stop producing fsh to make follicles grow. This works against what letrozole and clomid are trying to do so leads to a less successful cycle. At the start of a letrozole or clomid cycle most clinics check your estrogen...if it’s high it’s usually an indicator that there is a cyst that would make the cycle more unsuccessful. Better to just wait and not spend the money on a cycle with a cyst.
