Racist Friend?? Please help me handle this the right way!

Lilian 🌺

Both my friend and I are white women.. I was texting her about my plans to protest in my city yesterday with my sisters and this was her response 🙄

I texted back the “I agree!” At the same time she sent that message. But I definitely do not agree with how she worded it. She hasn’t been very vocal about any of what’s going on right now except for the looting and “innocent white people getting hurt”. Which she is right, but this is about innocent black people getting hurt because of the injustice in the system, but she only ever has defended white people.

My older sister is married to a black man and they have a beautiful baby girl together. When she was pregnant this friend told her “I could never be with a black guy but maybe for a pretty baby lol” (my sister and her used to be friends but not anymore, I just found out about that incident a few days ago)

I don’t stand for this and I feel like I need to say something but am not sure how to approach it.

Does anyone have any advice that has dealt with this before? I don’t want to stay quiet about this but don’t want to go about it the wrong way. My instinct is telling me to just ignore her and not be her friend anymore but now is the time to speak up! I need to say something!

Thank you so much in advance for advice and perspectives! ❤️

Also, I’m not sure where to post this so I’m posting in Controversy Corner to raise awareness while getting advice!

EDIT: my post was moved to the appropriate category that I was unaware of, thank you Glow!
