Idk what to do

So I bought my bf a little present, it was a ring to replace one that he recently broke. It took forever to get here since it was shipped. BUT we broke up last night. And I kind of still want him to have it but I know he’s taking the breakup harder than I am since we split bc I wasn’t happy with him as a bf. I still love him and eventually, once we heal a bit, we want to be friends again.

He’s out of town this weekend, should I put it in his mailbox for him to see when he gets home from his hiking trip? Or should I just keep it until we are back to being friends? Or what else could I do?
