Is it a date?

One of my best friends is a guy. Last year all our friends were meant to meet up for a gathering in my house. For work and other reasons it ended up just being me and my mate. We got drunk and slept together and then both decided it was a big mistake! But a  couple of months ago he said sometime we should go on a date to see if there's any feelings there that we could be more than friends. Weeks past and it was never mentioned again. We got in a fight a few days ago and he said sorry and when can we meet up. He said next week he'd come up and stay over night in mine and we'd have a day together. Said go out for dnner, cinema, drinks then movie at mine. So we sorted the details of time and day. He said he was excited about it. Then he said for me to pick the movie and restaurant. So picked and said was cos the place was cheap cos don't have a lot of money. Then he said you don't need a lot of money. When I picked the movie he said he wasn't fussed as all as I was there. So I have no clue if this is a date or just friends catching up.
