How old is the step daughter! I automatically put yes because of my husband ever slapped my daughters ass which is his stepdaughter I would find that extremely inappropriate and would think something was wrong. Shes almost 14 though but even if she were smaller I would still think it was inappropriate. I would think it was inappropriate if HER DAD slapped her butt! Idk maybe I’m the strange one

My dad did that to me when I was a teen and he said it was a "love pat".. my mom got mad when I would and said I was making a big deal out of nothing.  Needless to say, I distance myself from my parents now for countless other things.

Spanking or like random slapping? Definitely watch if he trying to discipline her first. If it's not and they weren't playing at all.  Then I'll be concerned. Ask your daughter about it then talk to him how it makes you feel and if he don't stop. I'd probably report it and divorce him. 
My boyfriend disciplines my daughter by spanking rarely. I do the same. We share the same discipline values and if I don't like something then we talk about and he fixes it.
