Just started the pill

Hey all! I have a question because I just started the pill. I know the pill prevents ovulation but my friends say they still get pms symptoms that were the same before they started the pill. This might be a lack in my information but don’t the symptoms occur between when you ovulate and when you get your period? So why do you still have the symptoms before your period if the pill is preventing you from ovulating?
