Anyone have the IUD?

Question

So after having both my babies back to back im thinking about birth control, the only time ive been on it i had a bad reaction to a pill years ago so im iffy about those..also iffy about implants or things being inserted into my body..like does it hurt..ugh..please tell me ur experiences with any n all types of birth control. But especially the IUD bc thats the one im leaning towards..TIA
EDIT- Thanks for all the input, i have a couple weeks before my 8 week app so i still have a lot to consider..but i like being able to read about everyone's experiences good n bad...hopefully i will be able to make a decision soon, might just ask the hubby to get snipped or something

I have a Mirena. It’s my third one. I had 2 in a row, took it out to have a baby, and got a new one at 14 weeks post partum. It stops my periods completely and the associated PMDD. It hurts more to get put in prebaby. The few days of cramping after insertion was worth 5 years of hassle free protection for me.

I am on my second mirena (hormonal IUD) and I LOVE it. The only side effect I have is that I don’t get my periods (SCORE!). Otherwise, I feel good and don’t experience any mood swings associated with changing hormones because of the contact low levels of hormones from the IUD. Overall, I think the vast majority have a positive experience with IUDs and they are an extremely effective reversible form of birth control. My first one hurt on insertion and I had some cramping and spotting that day, but that was before I had any kids. My second one (after I had my first baby) didn’t really hurt at all insertion. For me it was less painful than a cervical exam.

I had the Mirena IUD, I had it removed a year after. I only kept it so long because my ObGYn suggested I gave it more time for my symptoms to go away. I had crazy headaches, weight gain, cramps. No periods, but heavy discharge so it cost me a fortune in liners. I'm currently on the patch, my cramps are super minimal, pretty much non existent. My period is 5 days instead of 7, and I not weird symptoms.

i had the paragard, and it hurt like a mother going in. and then i got pregnant a few months later. i don’t like that i can’t tell if it’s in place! i had better luck doing fertility awareness. so if you’re looking for something foolproof then i wouldn’t recommend it, i know if at least 5 other women who have gotten pregnant with an IUD

I’ve had it on and off for years.
I personally love it.
No negative side effects for me.
Kept my periods light.
It hurts a little getting it put in.
A little pinch, then some cramping and light spotting for about a day.
But overall I love it.
I will get it ASAP after this baby.

Like others, I'm on my second Mirena IUD. Pre-pregnancy insertion hurt like a BITCH! Removal was painless. Got pregnant two months later. Got my second one 7 months postpartum (doctor wouldn't put it in before 6 months, said the risk of perforation and expulsion is too high -- talk to your doctor and read the fine print! Mirena isn't recommended until months postpartum at least), insertion was just a pinch and some cramping, nothing like before.
