Mini Poodle and Toddler
Hey guys! I am looking to get a mini poodle for my toddler because my husband is allergic to most animals. I read a lot on the breed and people say that older toy/mini poodles are not a good mix with kids. I want to get her one that is 8 weeks old so he would be raised around her.
I am hoping someone here may have experience with this situation and insight. The dog is about 95% mini poodle and about 5% golden retriever. So basically a VERY diluted version of a goldendoodle. The breeder had two left and said the one I am interested in has shown to be very calm in behavior so far.
My daughter has been around a Pomeranian her entire life with absolutely no issues except sometimes she will accidentally surprise him by petting him from behind. My daughter is 2.5 years old, very laid back, she does not hit, pull, push, get in the face of animals. She understands the term gentle and is great with being kind to all animals she has interacted with. I am not worried about her hurting the dog at all because she I know her behavior well. I am more worried about the dog not being a good fit for being around a child and it being a bad experience for all of us.
I would really love to hear from people who have you poodles or mini poodles and small children!
