Baby shower?

I'm already worried that I won't be able to have a shower because of a spike of the virus in the fall. It would be devasting if that were the case, especially since this is our first. I know it's way too soon to be thinking about it but I can't help it. What are your thoughts/plans?

Have a small shower with just close family and friends. Provide masks if you are extra worried. I am pregnant with my second but having a baby shower w my first was an important and memorable thing. Try to do something! I turned 40 a few weeks ago and I have been home for 3 months and very careful but we still had an outdoor party with about 20 people and just kept our distance, sanitized, etc. I invited people that have also been cautious. I’m glad I did it!

One of my friends did a virtual shower and it went really well! Everyone sent gifts ahead of time, she streamed it on FB event page, and we played games during it too

My sister is due in September and my mom has organized a small shower with immediate family. We had her make her registry and she will still send out cards to distant family members in case they would want to purchase something and get it sent to the house.

Never had one with my first baby, they’re really just a party.. yeah you’ll get gifts but tbh they usually aren’t good ones and people will mail them anyway. They’re usually clothing (you’ll get so many onesies you won’t know what to do with them, baby won’t even wear 1/2 of them) socks and hats. Sometimes people will get you something useful like a bottle warmer but for whatever reason people just like to buy onesies. You can have a well thought out registry and they will ignore it and buy you onesies. Or pacifiers. Or receiving blankets. Just save yourself the trouble and worry about buying things yourself. Gifts are bonus (just don’t buy a bunch of onesies or blankets and you’ll be fine) Like for reals, I donated a 30 gallon garbage bag of onesies. It’s flipping ridiculous.
