Last night my bf was showing me pictures/texts of his conversation with his sister because she had just crashed her car. It just so happened that the text he showed me ended with “I need to fix this car because I have baby shower to go to!” He immediately realized he “ruined” the surprise for me, but honestly I don’t mind knowing at all because....

I am so torn about having a baby shower. It had been established months ago that I wouldn’t have one due to Covid and I was super okay with it. But now my sister-in-law and mother-in-law are planning one for me. I know they mean well, but I am worried about being around about 15-20 people when I am close to my due date (and we live in Los Angeles where there are so many reported cases). ALSO, my parents would not attend because they have been practicing social distancing with me for baby and I’s safety. I would be soooooo devastated to attend my first baby shower without my mom present, especially considering it’s her first grandchild!! :(

Would I be selfish for saying I don’t want a baby shower? When my mother-in-law found out I knew about the baby shower she was pissed and said she wasn’t going to help or attend anymore, but I know she spoke out of anger and would still go. I’m scared to get her angrier by saying no. Ahhhhh.
