E. R. Visit due to vaginal bleeding

Sarah

Tonight, my husband and I went to the E.R. when I found out that I started having menstrual like bleeding. They found the baby's heartbeat, checked to make sure my cervix was still closed, and checked internally to see how much blood was actually in me.

The E.R. here in our town apparently doesn't have access to an ultrasound machine after 2pm and we got to the hospital around 5:30pm so no knowing what's going on inside of me until as early as Monday morning.

After all the little tests and bloodwork were over, they had me sit with a pad for an hour to make sure I wasn't having heavy bleeding and thankfully they were able to send me home assuring me that as long as my condition didnt worsen, I wouldn't need to come back. Just follow up with the O.B. on Monday.

Until pregnancy, I never knew what fear actually was. Waiting in the lobby for 5 minutes felt like an hour. After getting back home, every trip to the bathroom, every glance at my pad or the toilet paper, my heart sinks looking at the blood that's left leaving my body.
