Embarrassed to show my boyfriend my bare face

So I have been with my boyfriend for 4 months now and we are a long distance couple... He lives in Connecticut and I live in Virginia, we only see each other at church events which are every month. I love makeup. Like obsessed. I'm so insecure without it. I mean... I like being without makeup but I just... Can't show my face to ppl in the outside world. Lately he has been bringing up the fact that I don't want to show him my face without makeup and it's bothering him. I understand why but he doesn't understand that it's hard for me. He wants me to show him while we are on FaceTime but I feel like if I show him in person... It'll be better. I just do not know what to do. This is driving me crazy... I feel like such a terrible person. Please help.😔
