Why do men insist they are good drivers

So I've seen an interesting trend in my lifetime, which is that almost every man I know claims to be a good driver. The thing is, many are not in my opinionn yet they insist that they are good drivers. Is there ego involved? Pride? Delusion? I cant figure out why men are so attached to the idea that they have to be good drivers or convince themselves that they are even when infact they are not.

Do others see this as well or have I been exposed to unique men who for some reason think this way? If so what do you think is the goal with this claim/proclamation? What's the payoff for men to think they're good drivers when they are not? Also what is the fear they may have about what it would mean for them if they were not seen as good drivers?
