Anybody else’s doctor following the 5-1-1 rule?

My doctor is following the 5-1-1 rule for when to go to the hospital... Contractions that are 5 minutes apart, last 1 minute, and have been going on like this for 1 hour. 
I’m a FTM and nervous that this is cutting it really close.. it takes us 15 minutes at most to get to the hospital, so we’re not terribly far. 
Anybody else told to follow this rule?

Yes. Either that or if you are unable to tolerate the pain & need pain meds then go in. 15mins isn’t far at all you should make it in more than enough time! But if you’re worried go in a bit beforehand so you’re not stressed about it! You typically stay at that point for a bit unless baby is in a rush to get out anyways. Once they’re like 2mins or on top of each other it means baby coming out

I was told the 511 rule unless my water breaks. With baby one we followed this rule, drove the 15/20 minutes to the hospital and we had plenty of time.

Yep. I'm like 8-12 minutes from the hospital depending on traffic.

I was told 3-1-1.  
BUT... my water broke at home And they got so intense so fast that I wasn’t even timing them at that point...I was just trying to survive until I could get to the hospital to have an epidural.  Our hospital is 30-45 minutes away depending on traffic.  So at least for me, I feel like if I’m still in a calm enough state of mind to be timing my contractions I’ll have plenty of time to get to the hospital.  I had plenty of time with them being so intense anyway the last time.  Was a 4 when I got there and a few hours later I was complete.  But still, I had plenty of warning and plenty of time.  Hopefully your body will let you know.  Worst case they send you home though... that’s not really a big deal.

Yep, I was told to use the 511 rule or come in if my water breaks. I think that’s pretty standard especially for FTM since our labor is usually longer.

My hospital is 45 to a hour away and this is my second baby  I was told 511 rule and it should be fine

My OB for my 1st went by that. It's really up to if the baby is ready to come or not. The contractions aren't the final decider. We got to the hospital at 2:30am on a Monday night, I was only 2cm dilated by the morning, they almost sent me home for not progressing but they kept me. My water didn't break until about an 1hr before baby came. Baby didn't come until almost 2:30pm on Tuesday after pushing for about 45 mins.

Mine just said when they’re 5-7 minutes apart and painful she didn’t say I had to be having them for an hour though which I’m glad! We live like 25minutes from the hospital
