How are you keeping your sponges clean?

Question

I have a dishwasher but also use a sponge for some things. What is your “sponge cleaning” routine? Lol. Do you have one?

I swap it out with a new one. Have one for dishes one for other things like countertop and sink.

I clean it in the dishwasher when doing dishes.

We actually quit using sponges! You can sanitize them, but I felt the effort of doing so frequently enough to be effective outweighed my desire to use them.
Instead, we got these cloths specifically for washing dishes

and we LOVE THEM! They come in a packs of 5, 10, or 20 and I just use one per day! At the end of the week I wash them with my other towels (bath towels and kitchen towels) and I don't have to worry so much about bacteria when doing dishes anymore!

Microwave my wet sponge for 2-3 minutes a few times a week

I wash it with dish soap and superrrrrrr hot water making sure there are absolutely no food particles or anything on it then squeeze it out and wash it in the dishwasher.  Then I throw it away after a lil while and swap it for a new one.

I don’t use one. Sponges are gross. We use dish cloths that get swapped out daily.

Dont really use them. But if i did... i soak in bleach water.

I used to replace it very frequently. Even then, it grossed me out. Now I just use a dish brush to pre- clean my dishes and a silicone "sponge" to clean them.
