If you use the pill you have to be on it for about 7 days before it begins working. But a condom is effective as long as you use it correctly and it hasn't broken.

I'd like to say that it decreases your chances of getting pregnant by a lot. I am on the pill and I typically use condoms or pull out but trust me there will be times when you just don't wanna fool with a condom so I recommend another form of birth control no matter what
