Voluntary induction?

This is baby #3 for me. I mentioned to my doctor that my husband works out of town (about 2 hours away). And she instantly asked if I wanted to schedule to be induced anytime after I hit 39 weeks (this would be August 2nd). She asked this just to make sure my husband is home. I never considered this option and before she said it I wanted to avoid pitocin because I had it with #2(after I was progressing quickly enough) and it made everything so HORRIBLE. She said "I'm not saying I recommend it... It comes with risks just like any induction can but it's an option". My husband has the 4th-18th off of work. I'm kind of thinking it won't be worth it if I make it to 39weeks (the second) then I'll probably make it to 39+2 when he is going to be home anyway. Input? Experiences? Thanks a ton :)

Two hours isn’t that far away. If your husband can check his phone regularly, he can get home or to the hospital in time. I was induced with my first even though my water broke on it’s own and it was awful. My husband works all over the state and my hospital is an hour and a half away. I’m not really worried.

I’m personally against elective induction because of my experience with medical induction, and would avoid induction at all costs. But I understand everyone’s experiences and reasons are different, so I would sit down and think about the pros and cons and what’s best for you and your family.

I choose to be induced with my second baby. My body was already ready for him to come. All my dr had to do to “induce” me was break my water. Maybe keep that in mind? I’m glad I choose to as he passed his first bowel movement inside of me and any longer in there and he would have had complications. She induced me five days before my due date. It was also my shortest labor. ￼

I’ve had 2 inductions (first at 37 weeks with 17is hours in labor and second on my due date with 12 hours of labor) and then with my next baby was going to have another induction but went into active labor and water broke on my own two days before I was scheduled to be induced and that labor was about 10 hours long. Now that I know more about the risks and complications I will not opt for an induction with this baby unless it’s medically necessary. But that’s just my personal preference my inductions went very smoothly and I have no complaints really my first was kind of a long process but I think it’s just because it was my first labor my second two labors were nearly identical except for the fact that one was induced and one was not. That being said if you’re worried about your husband making it to the birth, even two hours away he should have no problem making it in plenty of time for the birth and I would guess even a good part of the labor. But everyone is different 🤷‍♀️
