Unpopular opinion

So, I am a FTM and need to rant a bit. When did society start putting so much pressure on babies instead of letting them explore, get dirty, try new things? Sometimes I read some posts and I think that it is crazy how much some parents micromanage their kids development. “My kid has to be doing (insert developmental stage here) by this age” or “my kid can’t or will never do (insert activity/ parenting choice here)”. I won’t necessarily use the argument that things were done differently when we were kids and we survived, because I know the few kids that didn’t survive set the standards of care. But still, when did we stop letting kids be kids? They need to be free to ask questions, play in the dirt, build an immune system, and be independent. I know some people will rip me apart (some already have on a few of my posts), but it’s just crazy! Let your kids set the pace of their development. As long as they are healthy, relax!
