Can i put a check from someone else into my account?

My bank account? So my baby daddy (boyfriend) got a check from the state and he wanted to give me for our baby. For his stuff because i am pregnant . But can i get it and take it to my bank to put into my bank account? Or how does that go? Does it have to be my own checks and with my own name on them?

Iv done this before what y’all can do is if he signs his name on the back and puts check to cash and take it to a bank then you can get the cash from it and then put it into your bank. I had to do this due to someone paying me back. I’m not 100% sure it works with all banks but I do know usaa does it!

Yes you can my bf didn’t have a bank acc before so I would deposit it into my acc and then take it out once it was all there we did this for months

I uploaded my moms check into my bank account at Wells Fargo(she didn’t have her own acc at the time) using the online option and didn’t have a problem.

State checks can not be signed over. The person who the check belongs to needs to cash it or deposit into an account with that persons name.

Since it's a state check, I would not recommend having him sign it over to you. Even if the bank accepts it, the state can reject to honor it if anyone but him signs it.

He needs to sign it over to you. I’m the space on the back of the check where it has a line to sign he needs to write this ABOVE that line. I’ve done it a lot so this is the correct way. 
I (his name) sign this check over to (your name) 
(His signature)
