How do I decide what I want to do with my life?

I’m 22 years old and still have no idea. I get so overwhelmed just thinking about it and I feel like I’m running out of time. 😫

Sweetie you have plenty of time to decide. Morgan Freeman is the perfect example of someone who didn’t figure out what he wanted to do until later in life. He didn’t go into acting until he was in his 40s or 50s I think. You have to figure out something that will be around 10 , 20, 30 years from now. Something that you like to do or have an interest in, something that will make money. I wouldn’t go with anything in the artist field because the most popular thing is called starving artist, you don’t make money until after you pass away. Things I will always be in need would be medical field, law-enforcement, working in a funeral home, education, however you don’t make much money there. They will always be sick people, there will always be people who die, there will always be people who break the law and there will always be a need for education. If any of those things spark an interest to you, then I would go that way. Anything with computers you’re gonna have to update every 5 to 10 years because there’s always a new computer system or software language coming out and you will always need more training. Nursing is an excellent field to go into. Certified nursing assistant, which is a CNA, working with the elderly, getting your RN registered nurse degree or even a medical office assistant to work in a doctors office at the front desk￼. I’ve volunteered with my mother at a community college for over 20 years myself and my mother works there and advises the students, I do all the financial aid and payment plans etc. so I can tell you what education programs to go for from experience. Those who go into business or marketing graphic design, there’s always a need for it and corporations, however, there’s a lot more people going for that same job. You just got to figure it out. Do a vision board, a dartboard throw a dart and see where it lands, a Myers-Briggs test, most community colleges have a career center that can advise you. Ask yourself this, what do you see yourself doing, in all honesty,  what did you dream of doing as a kid, what can you see yourself doing 20 years from now. Make a list of pros and cons, do what you Gotta do, just make sure whatever you pick is something that you enjoy doing and makes you happy or at least you can tolerate to pay your mortgage or rent. Helping people that’s my job. Translation services, Immigration, mortgages, taxes, education, etc problem solving is what I do. One stop shop. I help my mom at the college and she helps me in my office. She loves to fight and argue, I hate it. I hate going to court and dealing with the family, custody, child support cases. I hate drama. I’d rather fill out paperwork. I’ve been self employed since I was 16, bought my first house at 20. Everyone is in different places in life. Some people focused on having a family and getting married and having kids, that was never my focus. I’m 41, I have no children, never been married, but I’m dating, I’m not in any rush.

Ahh I’m 30 and I still haven’t really decided.  I worked in retail management for a year, then I worked in investments/finance for 6 years, then I went back and did additional schooling with intention of getting a job in Human Resources... now I’m a stay at home mom 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not sure when or if I’ll ever go back to work now lol.
