First real period...is this normal!?!?

So baby was born April 6 so I'm a little over 13 weeks pp. This period is the WORST. Yesterday it was so heavy I was filling pads and having to change more often. I even felt the need to sleep in a post partum diaper the past two nights. So I get up to use the bathroom and (tmi) I'm dripping blood out like I sneezed. This is day 3 of heavy heavy heavy flow. Am I the only one???

Yes. I normally have very regular periods. But my last period I went through an entire box of Super maxi pads each one every 2-3 hours for almost a week. Horrible cramps too. Very irregular too. First a 26 day cycle then a 35 day cycle. Instead of pushing me to go on birth control, the nurse practitioner at my OB office suggested getting a hormone panel test. My hormones are little imbalanced and I have high FSH and low estrogen so I may have diminished ovarian reserve (which is crazy because I got pregnant so easily). I have 3 kids already and I’m 33 so I don’t really care and I personally don’t want any more kids, but still it was crazy to hear that because my FSH was 6.8 almost 4 years ago and now its 16.2!! Really thankful the NP suggested this because everyone else there was just pushing me to get a darn IUD 😒.
Irregular periods can be very normal in postpartum but it can’t hurt to get a hormone panel blood test just to be sure there aren’t any underlying issues before going on birth control.

I had three days of heavy bleeding my first period as well, filled so many pads and had a few leaks!

Yeah my doctor said when I get my period back the first one is going to be heavy

My first postpartum period was absolutely horrible. There was SO MUCH BLOOD! I had to wear postpartum diapers as well. My period lasted 10 days. I got on a high potency birth control pill to help regulate my hormones and period. Seems to be working, my periods are back to normal now!
