What age did you stop doing skin to skin?

I still do skin to skin a couple times a week and my son is 8.5 months now. I don’t really know when I’ll stop. I had to wean him off the breast at 7months due to a lot of combined reasons so skin to skin has been a way we still have a special connection/bond since nursing wasn’t an option anymore.

For me, it has nothing to do with bonding. My son has been formula fed since birth and we have a great bond. He’s 10 months old, and it’s not something we do regularly. But sometimes when he’s really upset, or not feeling well, I’ll take my shirt off and let him lay on my chest. It seems to help him calm down a lot faster, and it seems to comfort him more than anything else.

It’s most important as newborns. At 8.5 months there’s really no need for it. And it’s ridiculous to me that you’re under the impression that breastfeeding and skin to skin at the only ways to bond with your baby. Our babies are exclusively formula fed from birth and I only did skin to skin for the first few weeks with both of them. I have an amazing both with each of our girls.

I stopped pretty much after I couldn’t breastfeed anymore, which was like a month. But do whatever is comfortable for you. It’s your baby, enjoy it while you can
