Things are just not getting any better

Robyn • I am a single mom of 3 kids. Divorced.
Well the didn't really tell us anything different. They are concerned about this hole (that all baby's have) in Austin's heart. It really small and the lining around it is thick. If it closes its very likely to be fatal. They are wanting us in Colorado on the 7th of February. And will deliver baby on the 22nd more than likely. Jessi ( his big sister) won't be able to be around him after he is born. They will make an exception for her to meet him and spend time as a family that day only. Anyone who will be visiting the baby in the hospital or even once we eventually get home and wants to spend time with him in either place needs to be up to date on flu shot and the whooping cough( pertussis) vaccine. He is going to be a very sick boy if he makes it through his first surgery. The doctor said that we might have to stay in Colorado through his second surgery. Most babies don't come out of the first surgery without complications. Things will be up and down until discharge and if he's still having trouble eating and other things after discharge they will want us nearby. If he makes it through all of that the second surgery will be performed at 4 months old. Then the third will be when he is 2-2.5 yrs old. We were told to be hopeful but prepare for the worst. Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is the most complicated defect that cardiac surgeons come across. That is all we have for news really we did get some pictures of him from the ultrasound and the doctor was telling us we have a little show off on our hands as his boy parts are very large and he had no problem showing them to us. We leave tomorrow morning to go back home to Montana.  Pray for another uneventful trip.
