Family doesn't want to talk about the controversial stuff
I'm a pretty passionate person when it comes to issues like gender and racial equality. However, my parents and my little brother don't seem to care much. So when I try to educate them, or talk about a controversial topic, my brother says he doesn't care, and my parents choose to shush me so that we can just have a chill time together. This has happened many times, and I've tried talking to them about it. But tonight, they did it again, and I just walked off. I just don't know what to do? I've really talked to them about it before, how I was upset when they did that, and how I want to have these conversations with them. I've said this all calmly both in the moment and afterwards. But they're still not being open to talking about the big issues. I know our views differ on some things. But to not even talk about it is upsetting.
Any advice?

So thank you to everybody who commented. The trend seemed to be that I should just leave it alone. However, I did not take your advice. I was pretty upset in the moment when I wrote this, but once I chilled out, I went to talk to them. Turns out we all misunderstood each other. While my brother is still a little iffy, my parents have explained they think that it's just because of his age (he's 16). So thanks to everybody, but I honestly disagreed with just dropping it. I expect a lot out of my family, the same way they do of me. Maybe your family dynamics are different than mine. But I'm proud and thankful that even if we don't 100% agree on things, we can have smart, calm conversations about them. It wasn't about arguing or convincing them to do/think anything. Just to have intelligent discussions, and I'm happy to be able to do that with my family most of the time.
