Name change?

So we never really could decide on a name in the hospital and we felt rushed so we just picked a name that my mother in law liked but I still can’t bring myself to call my baby by that name. Would it be too late to change it? What would the process be? I’m in Texas DFW area

If your baby is already about 6-7 months, he or she already should know its name. I wouldnt change it now. If you wanted to change it, you should have done it when they were a newborn. I don’t know why you’d wait this long.

I felt this way in the beginning too. It took me about 6-8 weeks to finally come around to the name I chose. Because I didn’t choose the name I really wanted because of everyone’s opinions. Next babe I’ll make sure to give them the name I really want. But I’ve grown to love the name and she now fits her name. But I thought about changing it too. 
If you really dislike the name and you get that feeling Every time someone says it or you say it, change it now. Don’t wait. Like people have said, they recognize their name by 6/7 months. If you use a nickname instead, that’s fine. Just keep that nickname and start to call baby what you want their name to be. They’re so young, they don’t know the difference between their real name and a nickname. I call my baby “babe” or “baby” all the time and she responds to that but also responds to her real name. So really she just responds to whatever I call her most often. Obv down the line she’ll know her real name and be able to differentiate her nickname. 
If it doesn’t fit your babe and you don’t like it, do what YOU want. Change their name. They’re stuck with it forever and so are you! Don’t feel bad about having to explain to people why you changed the name. You. An simply say I think this name fit more

It should be fairly simple. I had my daughters last name changed when I got married 3 years ago. I wanted her name to match mine and my husbands.  I’m in FL, but I went to the court house. They gave me all the paperwork I needed and directions on what to do. I had to be fingerprinted as part of the process. All in all it took about 60 days and cost about $450. I will say this. If you change their, make sure you contact vital statistics after and have their birth certificate changed as well. Otherwise they will have to always have both: birth certificate and the legal documents showing the name change.

I have a friend William who i've known as Toby since we were 9. It was a name his grandfather called him. I don't think he has an issue with it.  Just a legal name versus what he chooses to be called.

In Florida, you can change baby's name once anytime within the first year, very easily. I changed my daughters at 2 months old, well I just shortened her name, cost $20. Received new birth certificate within 2 weeks. Just waiting for S.S. office to open so I can get her a new S.S. Card then thats it. It was very easy, 2 applications, notarize, $20... 😁
