What To Expect

My husband and I have been TTC for a year. Since we haven’t been successful it is time for a trip to the doctor. I have a consultation for the beginning of August. My anxiety has been pretty bad (thanks Covid) and am already freaking I out. I’m just wondering what I can expect to happen at this consultation. I know everyone’s doctor and experience is different. I’m just trying to get some general ideas. Thanks!!

Your doctor will most likely do a pap and order some blood tests. I went in and showed my doctor that I have been tracking ovulation for over a year. She referred me to an infertility specialist right away.

You should ask about getting the sperm tested also. It’s cheaper and faster to get sperm tested than all the women’s tests. 
And you should make a list of all your questions (I do on my phone). Then take notes while you are there so you don’t forget.
And be honest with them about how many kids you want and your timeline. Ask them if they think they can help you or if you need a specialist

I would make sure to request a progesterone test (7 days after ovulation) and verify if your hubby is willing to do a semen analysis. Bring in whatever you are using for cycle and ovulation tracking because if they see you have been trying and tracking for a while they may get you to see a specialist sooner. Good luck!
