SOS!! How to heal clipped fingernail??

My daughter is 3 weeks old & my mom was trying to help by cutting her nails & this happened. My daighter bawled for about 15 then nursed and fell asleep. She’s sleeping sound and comfortably now but now that I see how bad it is I’m wondering if there’s anything I should do to help it heal? Or the pain? My poor mom feels so bad

Keep it dry and clean. I'd use some cleansing agent on it - whatever you have at home that's for cleaning wounds but won't sting and hurt.
Use newborn mittens so baby won't accidentally get it on stock on something and open it up again.
Babies heal incredibly quickly and these things happen to more of us than you think. My health visitor flat out told me to sterilize baby nail scissors before using them, just in case. I thought that was a bit too much of a precaution but she said it was very frequent to have tiny nicks on baby fingers.

Just leave it dry and clean, wash with water if you have to, keep mittens on baby so that the would will heal nicely, you don’t need to put anything on it unless it gets infected, and it’s completely up to you if you want to sterilise the nail clippers, I don’t personally 🤷‍♀️it’s just something I’ve never done and my son is almost 5 and he’s fine 🤷‍♀️, I seriously did the same thing with him when he was a couple weeks old and did it a few weeks ago accidentally to baby girl 😬

The nurse at the hospital told me to tear his nails if they get long but not to clip them until I can no longer tear them. I’m sure grandma feels so bad but when she had a baby they probably told her to clip their nails. Some antibiotic ointment and a mitten until it heals a little more would do just fine. Just keep an eye on it is all. My baby boy gets fuzzies stuck between his fingers from the swaddles so just be sure to keep it real clean. 💞💞

Awe poor babe. J just file my little ones nails when she comes out the bath. I’m to nervous to use the clippers just yet. But I would just keep it clean with mild soap and warm water.

She is way to young to even have her nails cut at only 3 weeks old love they nails are like paper thin .. just keep it clean so it won’t get infected. My baby is 1 month old and I still won’t cut her nails just keep mittens on her hands to prevent her from scratching her face and things like this won’t happen !
