Chemical pregnancy and scans

I was 4 weeks and 2 days pregnant and I started bleeding, like a normal period, I knew it was a chemical but I called my GP to inform them, they seemed really worried asked me to attend Emergency Department. So I went there, they took a urine sample and sent me home and asked to return the next morning for a scan. I really don’t see the point as there won’t really be anything to see. Has anyone else experienced this and what has a scan shown so early on?
