Do you think homeschool can impact a child’s social life

Yes. How a child gets their education will affect and influence their social life. That isn’t inherently negative or positive though. There are really well socialized homeschooled children and there are really poorly socialized homeschool children. Same can be said for children who attend public school or private school. Every child is different. Every child has different access to social situations. Every child desires and does better with different social situations.

It really depends on the situation. I was home schooled for 3 years from ages 4th through 6th grade. I am very dyslexic and probably would not have learned to read if I wasn't home schooled. I was able to fake being able to read until we started longer books in 3rd grade then it came out that I couldn't actually read. 
It wasn't just me and my mom and no other kids ever. I did extra curricular actives like Karate, and Dance. We also had get togethers and field trips with other home schooling families.

It depends how you homeschool. There are a lot of resources for those who do and I'd have to tap into a lot of those in order to make it a rich and social experience for kids. There are a lot of small group programs at learning centers, libraries, nature centers, etc that offer group based learning. There are homeschooling groups that get together weekly. It's definitely a full time job, but if done correctly, I don't see it being an issue with your kids social life at all.

I am a junior in high school and have been homeschooled for almost 9 years. Rant coming........ the argument of socialization in homeschooling is so dumb it makes me angry because people don’t seem to understand that just because you aren’t in public school doesn’t mean you won’t socialize and have friends. That is 10000000% false!!
Being homeschooled, to me, makes you so well rounded in socialization. You learn how to be social with all ages not just the ones in your grade. I find so much joy conversing with elderly people. I LOVE talking to them. I have a 8 year old girl that I write letters back in forth to. She is my little buddy and I love her. When my parents pulled me out of 2nd grade I don’t take any of my friendships out of that. All of my close in age friends now are girls I have met from being homeschooled. They are the truest friends I know. Homeschooling is amazing and so beneficial to all ages. I wouldn’t change my parents decision for the world. Socialization for homeschoolers is such a poor argument. Because say you’re 25+, you aren’t in school anymore. How do you make friends and socialize?🤨

Yes especially if they don’t have any siblings or a lot of them. Part of school is learning how to deal with people you don’t like and sharing a teacher which will translate into sharing a boss.

Yes. My coworker was homeschooled. She could not handle work and people, so she ended up going work at the library. Nothing wrong with it, but she suffered greatly trying to deal with people and children.

I mean you sit at home all day on a computer for 6-8 hours. Yea 😬 it’ll probably definitely impact them. My nephews in laws are so weird. 4 and 10 years old. You can tell they have issues.

I think the impact can be lessened if you make sure they are given plenty of other opportunities to socialize.

It doesn't have to if you do it the right way. I know plenty of homeschool families that do it right and have co-ops. I also have friends (including my husband) who was homeschooled and they're all fine, socially. It just takes more effort when you home school. That's all.
