Doc Suggested an Induction at 39 Weeks?

Ke

The hospital I’m giving birth at is 80 miles away. Roughly an hour and 15 minute drive in perfect weather (today it took me an hour and a half because of heavy downpour and accidents). It’s my choice. I can go to a local hospital, but I love my OB and I didn’t want to switch.

I’m 37+3, 1cm dilated, and 50% effaced. It’s still early and I’m glad there’s a bit of progression because last pregnancy, I wasn’t dilated at all, just 70% effaced. I was induced with Pitocin because my water broke on it’s own at 39+3 and I wasn’t dilating or progressing at all. I did dilate no problem when I was given Pitocin.

Doctor said “Let’s just induce you on August 11th if you haven’t gone into labor before then, that’s cutting it close and let’s play it safe.” He said he thinks I’ll have the baby relatively fast if I’m induced.
