How wide does the speculum open during the pap smear?

I'm going for my first pap smear soon and I'm scared. Like how wide does it open you? What does it feel like? My mom just keeps saying it's uncomfortable. Like I don't understand that. I need more details

It’s honestly just uncomfortable because of being in such an awkward situation. It won’t hurt if you relax. Also, if you have a wonderful gyno like mine, she/he will talk you through it.

No wider than a regular exam. I don't mind it. It's not painful imo
