How long after birth can I do house work?

Question

I was told to take it easy after birth. When can I start doing things like vacuuming, washing floors, dishes, and scrubbing shower and tub? Obviously cooking and dishes is a must so is that fine to do right when I come home from hospital? When did you start doing house work after birth. Please let me know thank you. This is my first baby so I don’t know how easy to take it.

Whenever you feel well enough to do it. You’ll be able to tell if you end up doing too much and can tone it down. I felt great after I gave birth, so I cooked, cleaned, went on walks, pretty much did whatever I felt well enough to do as soon as I came home.

It will so much depend on your birth. With my first I had a 10 hours birth and even after one week I was still very week. My second and third was only like 3 hours each and after one week I was back working.

I felt up to vacuuming and lifting laundry baskets and more strenuous house work about 2 weeks PP. but boy oh boy I was not ready. The whole next day I was in pain and felt like everything was going to fall out of me. I felt much better doing it around 6 weeks.

Wait a few weeks. Trust me. If you try to do too much too early you’ll slow down your healing

Take it easy until you're healed. If you go crazy it'll take longer to heal. So I didn't start doing stuff until I stopped bleeding cause anything I did that was even lightly strenuous made me bleed harder.
