Can you get pregnant after sex the day before ovulation?

Well my boyfriend and I fucked up and had sex the day before my ovulation. I was asking a friend for advice, and she said it's very unlikely I'll get pregnant since it takes the egg 24-48 hours to get fertilized anyway, and ovulation would be over before then. She's finally pregnant after 12 years of trying so she obviously knows about pregnancy and has dealt with the difficulty firsthand. I trust her, but it seems like her advice was a little off. What do you guys think? Should I give it much more thought, or just not worry since the chance is so low?
